Jenna’s first lesson looks at a great strathspey from Gideon Stove who was known as “The Shetland Violinist” in the late 19th and early 20th centuries This Post is only available
Hailing from Quarff in the Shetland Islands in the far north of Scotland, Jenna has grown up with Shetland tunes all around her.
In this series she will teach some of her very favourite tunes from her home in her incredibly friendly and pleasant manner.
This series of lessons will be pitched at the intermediate to advanced player, although improving learners may find some of the tips and lessons attainable.
Since releasing her debut solo album in 2005 and being awarded ‘Best Up and Coming Artist’ at the 2005 Scots Trad Music Awards, Jenna Reid has undoubtedly remained one of the brightest young talents ever to grace the traditional music scene. With a further three solo albums to her name since, she splits her time between teaching the fiddle, composing, and touring as part of several groups. She has long been regarded as one of Scotland’s best fiddle players.
